i dont use the gog galaxy client. i just use steam and heroic when i want to play some dauntless or whatever free game might catch my fancy.
dont know how it works with gog galaxy but heroic games launcher does online authentification for online games without needing egs to be installed.
also heroic games launcher works on lunix with built in proton if thats your thing.
