what happened to video game voice acting? I've noticed with the crash and spyro remakes that the new voices are a snorefest it has been shit since at least fallout 3 but it didn't really hit me until now it's just too monotome, sany and subdued just compare it to older games like ratchet & clank where the characters actually have character in their voices
the worst part is that not even indie games have good voice acting it's usually some autistic sounding nasally voice that makes every scene akward
im pretty sure a lot of my disdain for modern voice acting comes from nostalgia but it is very jarring hearing MGS, Star Fox 64, or something legendary like Legacy of Kain and then putting it next to something modern. the first time i remember being distracted by shitty voice acting was FFX

Because very few VA's are cast based on their ability to play a character and more just because they're popular or prolific, then the VA strike happened and you're starting to see more Youtube/internet VAs in games now who are sometimes better because they actually care about voice work because they aren't just failed actors
