ADV that's meant exclusively for fapping are called Nukige; most others are stories with sex scenes. Like Fate/Stay Night. Many authors just add sex to get it to sell, and companies nowadays sometimes hire someone else to write the sex scenes so there's a Jekyll & Hyde quality to character personalities.

I don't know about those but Hirameki translated VNs before VNs were really popular and thus they died out. I have a couple of their games.

Hirameki were the reason why we call these types of ADV games 'visual novels' in the first place. Though, they did get the idea from Leaf's visual novel trilogy which included 'ToHeart'. If they didn't do what they did, I wonder if we would be calling these ADV, or if another word would've been picked.
