Actually that's not true. It has a way better story and cast since SoV turns Alm into a more generic self-insert protagonist, Celica into a complete retard, and have Rudolf be the worst character in the series because how dumb his plan was.

It's the only game where you can use Wrys, Darros, Roger and a few others in a game that doesn't look like shit. It certainly does play like shit, but I managed to beat it in japanese armed only with rudimentary hiragana knowledge a few years ago

FE1 is fun. It's most fun trying to ironman. Just get the weapon stats in front of you while you play and do the rest blind. They probably should have translated FE3 though to not scare off babies and journalists.
