Think it this way:
RE1 was a literal masterpiece.
REmake improved that masterpiece in many ways, all while providing veteran fans new content and surprises.
It was also the first, and still the best made full-blown remake in the industry's history.
Anyone STARTING with the REmake will miss a lot of its "whoa" factor and appeal point.

Yeah I was gonna say, people suck off the REmake soundtrack but the only 2 decent tracks I can think of are the save room theme and that Guardhouse piece, both f which are remixed from the first game. Everything else is just bland ambient music instead of the cool X Files-style synth tracks the original game had.
