Was this the must overhated game of all time? Even with it's flaws and predicable plot it is far from a bad game. At least it's better than everything Naughty Dog did in the last decade.
Was this the must overhated game of all time? Even with it's flaws and predicable plot it is far from a bad game...
No. It's all well and good to try something different, but it has to work. Interactions with Trico were too obtuse, and I don't know what a good compromise is.
Up there, for sure. From the hate it got you wouldn't know it's one of the best games ever made.
>flaws
Nice way of saying filtered. TLG doesn't have many flaws especially from a design perspective. It's essentially just a re-imagined version of ICO, so its so called 'flaws' are just filtered retards who can no longer connect with an early PS2-era design philosophy.
If TLG came out when the PS3 was launched, I can almost guarantee you it would have received universal praise. This was still a time where game design wasn't strictly a by-the-numbers consumer product made on a manufacturing line, and people still played video games to experience adventures without expecting rewards like trophies and seeing XP/progression bars.
TLG is a game about a journey, and what an incredible journey it is. You can't find many games like it, and it's telling that the few that you can are either from the same creator or from a by-gone era. I'm genuinely glad Uncle Timmy is bankrolling Ueda's next game, because games like this just simply don't have a market anymore (costs too much to make with the best case scenario being to break even).
Good fucking projection. Most PS2 era philosophy aged like fine wine and if TLG launched in PS3 days it would floop even harder.
>"Was this the must overhated game of all time?"
>goes on to virtue-signal shit on naughty dog
i'm thinking TLOU2 is more overhated, OP.
It's still well above the average game.
It's flawed but only because you can tell they'd taken too long working on it.
That which is there bears a certain resentment for the effort necessary.
I don't care how pretty and artsy it is the gameplay sucks
it's a pretty cool game, but it sure as hell wasn't worth $60.
Honestly, it's up there for my favorite game alongside Bloodborne on the PS4. If you liked Ico, there's no reason why you wouldn't like TGL. But not many people would be able to get into Ico. Shadow of the Colossus was an epic huge boss rush simulator, so it's an easier sell. TLG feels like an expansion of Ico.
I forgot this game even existed until you made this thread.
can you emulate this now?
I dropped it after wandering around in a large area that looked like it had puzzles and shit to do but the solution was to climb on the animal and wait for it to carry you to the next stage
I haven't watched that movie, sorry user
Not even the most overheated on the ps4
Pretty much. Nintentards hate anything that doesn't come out on their Driftking 2000.
I think the issue is Team Icos games are just outdated in the modern gaming sphere.
Imagine if Shadow of the Colossus came out today for the first time and not some remaster.
Having a big open world with nothing populating it minus the main bosses and teeny tiny lizards just wouldnt work today.
Ico is a fun puzzle game with simplistic combat and was fun for what is was but if you made it today people would demand more. These problems only carry over to Last Guardian. Not to mention I think people demanded more in general from this because it was stuck in development hell for over a decade
nintendogs for hipsters
you have been filtered by doggo ai and missed kino ending
>predictable plot
Actually the barrel reveal was one of the most suprising vidya reveals I’ve seen in a while
Loved the game btw
>the most overhated game of all time
It's just like mgs4. No matter how good it actually was, it's cooler to hate on.
user, a 7/10 is 'bad' in IGN language
>i'm so bug fucking retarded I actually pay attention to game journalism in any capacity
yeah the artstistic expression approach was less special at the time with games like Journey and ton of other indie games doing it too
still underrated nevertheless, for being judged on what it was not rather being judged on what it was, this also applies games like Mario 3D World and Tropical Freeze, perfectly good games but shit on for not being what the people wanted that studio to make, Mario 3D World not themepark styled 3D platformer like Sunshine and 64 and Tropical Freeze not a Metroid Prime and 2D games considered outdated
There is no AI desu you literally have to sit down and wait for the next cutscene to start. At least honest moviegames like TLoU make you stealth down a hallway or something
7.9 user score
8.2 imdb
4.4 Best Buy
4.6 Amazon
So who exactly hated it then?
