FF4 is just unfun. Fuck those reflect enemies, counters, 40k+ hp trash in the final dungeon, useless debuffs and scan. I'm fucking sick of ff4.

No, they had actual DLC.
I did before I went out to spend 6 months in bumble fuck Wyoming with no guarantee of internet, so I prepped some games. There's no other way I could have finished all three Fates games and DLC otherwise. It's all utter garbage. No. it's really not.
Conquest>Birthright>Revelations
Conquest has decent maps and the characters don't always suck all the time.
But they all have such terrible writing at their core that none of them need to be played.

half of it is literally pointless and is just to have infinite access to grinding, money, and items. Breaks Conquest and is pointless for the other 2. The rest, from what I can remember, is just ties in to Awakening. Some of the characters from Fates are actually from Awakening and somehow time/dimension travelled over and just said "Fuck it we live here now". So buy DLC to learn all about it.

I think the overall map design in Conquest is overrated because there's a few standout chapters. I think the narrative in Conquest is so terrible that it actively intrudes on one's ability to enjoy the gameplay. I also think it's still far and away the best version of Fates, and at worst an on par Fire Emblem experience.

I hated the characters, the story, the gameplay, the music, the area designs; basically everything about the game except for Magilou.
Even Shining Resonance is a better Tales game than this garbage.
