Versus is so fucking good, but the community is absolute garbage. The community is the epitome of "no fun allowed". I love getting kicked because I got grappled one time, while no one seems to mind the hacker teleporting across the map. I also love joining an "official dedicated server" that turns out to be some terrible rpg xp based mod where everyone has 300 ping. So much wasted potential here that could probably be easily fixed by a few tweaks from Valve.

I was on a team with two other people and we were in first place for most of the match (we had taken down 3 bots already). Then suddenly there are 5 new players added into our game, they take control of all four robots and immediately start destroying us.
They kill my teammates right away then turn their attention towards me as I'm still alive. It's at this point when I realize it isn't just any random player who joined the game; these five guys knew exactly what they were doing...

Honestly game would be better if people took it less seriously. Its a 13 year old zombie game with no ranking system. Who cares if some guy on your team did something stupid, its often hilarious and the funnest parts of this game are when you can just laugh at how utterly fucked your team is

It's a self-perpetuating problem. You're automatically put in a team that's losing so you switch servers until you don't, which creates more stacked teams. Valve multiplayer games are always fucking bullshit I don't even know what I'm doing in this thread, it's all complete bullshit

The meme server issue comes from lack of official servers. If none are available, they put you into a best dedicated one instead. I imagine that over the years as the playerbase shrunk Valve has been taking more and more of these servers offline.
Also the game selects servers closest to the lobby host's region setting on Steam. If your region is set to overseas it will pick a server for you from there.
