Sure, AAA vidya sucked (as always) but 2021 is just filled with hidden gems. And I'm still yet to start White Album 2 and Metroid Dread
It's also fascinating just how well the music can fit, given that all the songs are royalty free

I recently learned that 100% Orange Juice is mainly made up of stock sound effects and music. It all fits together so well I didn't even realize it at first. It can absolutely work if you try hard enough and have the creativity.

Black Souls has artstyle. It's what people recognize this game for 99% of time.
Music and sounds can be borrowed somewhere, basic game sprites are whatever, story needs to be really fucking good to be a selling point and I'm fairly sure very few of indie game devs are good writers.
I wouldn't trust myself to make even a free game, let alone something that costs money.
