A lot. Quick rundown, though:
>game announced in 2014 before overwatch (this will be relevant later)
>devs run out of money and have to lay off the entire staff
>entire staff comes back in to work for free because they like the game that much
>they run out of money again
>microsoft offers money
>they take it
>microsoft requires that it be moved to the Universal Windows Platform (UWP)
>this sets development back by several months and introduces a shitton of bugs they don't have time to fix
>chief among them being that the game crashes constantly if you have it also makes it Windows 10 exclusive
>devs run out of money again because of how hard microsoft set development back and look for a second publisher
>perfect world is the only one offering money
>they make it an Arc launcher exclusive (Arc Launcher being the shitty Perfect World launcher that people only use to play the Neverwinter MMO)
>game launches in Early Access exclusively to people on the Arc Launcher and Windows 10 at the same time
>fucking nobody plays it, because why would they
>game gets a full launch on steam in 2017 as a F2P game
>gets reviewbombed because it's windows 10 exclusive
>gets reviewbombed because it makes you install the arc launcher
>gets reviewbombed by poorfag BRs because of the popup on launch telling them they can't play or buy cosmetics because their computer doesn't have 6GB of RAM
>gets reviewbombed by blizzard shills and astroturfers for being an "overwatch ripoff" despite not playing or looking the same and having an announcement that predated overwatch's by multiple months
>the remaining playerbase is getting ruined because of autistic BR Tripp mains who keep abandoning games mid-match if they can't pubstomp
>the devs are too busy desperately trying to push out content to attract people to rebalance what's already there
>perfect world pulls the plug 8 months later, game is now literally unplayable

The worst part?
If you got into a game without a faggot Tripp main or Moira but she was blatantly unfinished and released like a month before the game shut down, the game was fucking incredible. Easily one of the most fun and unique multiplayer games I've ever touched, and it's dead. The only way to play now is by using a modded client running on an older, far worse version of the game and going through an autistic circlejerk of a discord to get to it and organize matches.
As long as I live, I will never forgive Microsoft, Perfect World, or Actiblizz.
