It's more of a JRPG than its own thing like Arcturus by Gravity (a Korean RPG that was considered a big deal when it was initially released).

Sure, but you'll be hard pressed to find a game where you're not playing a character in a role. By that logic, every game from Pacman onwards is an RPG.
It's like calling Skyrim an FPS because you shoot arrows from the first person perspective or Apex an RTT because you need to execute tactics in real time.
