This is the best horror game since SH2
Why have the devs abandoned us?

It's better than SH2 in terms of a game that actually keeps you afraid. Way fucking better. The dev team was tiny I think, and the project burned them out

Maybe it's my shitty eyes but everything is just too tiny in this game for me to see properly.

Name?

Very solid game all around. Wish I had the patience to finish it. Maybe someday.

Darkwood, and it's only like 15 bucks.

What kind of display you got?

how come slavs make best scary games

it gets not scary later on after you figure out how everything works and that dying has no penalty

you should try not easy mode.

>top down shooter
>scarier than SH
nice bait

Man I wish I had any desire to go back to dark wood. All it took was the day night cycle to kill it for me. I wanted to be exploring an unforgivable world that forces me to push into the unknown. Instead I got base maintenance and huddling in a corner of a room waiting forthe game to say I was allowed to play again. Ruined any kind of momentum I had.

>that dying has no penalty
ok casual

>shooter

At first I thought the nighttime base survival thing was cool but after a while it started to feel like a chore.

Definitely not a shooter.

0/10

>not a shooter
>webms clearly shows player with an arsenal shooting generic "scary" monsters

it's a good game and genuinely a good horror game. I would be intrested in see where the devs take it next.

Little Nightmares is good too. Definitely the best new horror game setting in a long time.

Its stalker if it had more focus on pve and survival aspects
love that game

It's just too bad that the vast majority of the actual lore exists outside of the game or is cut content. It's borderline impossible to piece together what is actually going on just by playing the games.

Silent Hill confirmed shooter

silent hill 1 and 3 do a much better job of keeping you scared throughout the game

Not really?
Gameplay never evolves beyond dark=good and shooter monster in the face if close.
Darkwood has barricading, trapping, hiding, skills, crafting and meaningful non railroaded exploration.
The only thing darkwood lacks is bossfights

It's a survival game, resources are incredibly scarce and have to traded or crafted, and weapons easily degrade during fights and need to be maintained, so you have to constantly explore hoping to find adequate resources but inventory room is also limited. Aiming is awkward and lacks precision, hitting with melee requires a buildup and tires you out, and you can die in a couple of hits while healing is impractical and has a slow effect. So each encounter is tense because in most cases you'll have a weak revolver with only a couple bullets and a half broken piece of wood, and you end up trying to flee with your character bleeding while spooks hiding in the darkness and 10/10 sound design are mindfucking you. It's about resource management, preparing your expeditions, and being able to improvise to survive when shit hits the fan.
