ITT: beloved series that now have more bad entries than good ones
This is the only great game in the series. Super was pretty good though
Assassin’s Creed
Saint’s Row
Actually I don’t know that either is “beloved” but they still fit the bill
Crash Bandicoot
Kingdom Hearts
kingdom hearts
Deathloop
The obvious answer is Sonic.
Star Fox
Most of the examples ITT have more mediocre games than either bad or good.
This series only has 2 entries and they're both great
MvDK has at best two good games if you count DK94 as spiritually part of it (I do). Then it turned into pure shovelware
>Every game after 2 is trash in some way
How does this even happen?
>PM
Good
>TTYD
Amazing
>Super
Great
>SS
Awful
>CS
Bad
>TOK
Outstanding
Even if you do not want to admit Origami King is good, it is unanimously agreed that SPM has the heart and soul of the original two so it’s considered great, despite the difference in gameplay.
I liked the first Minis game on the DS. Then they just kept shitting them out endlessly and I stopped caring. Weird how they got one of Sonic's original creators and just dumped him on working on those and nothing else.
>This is the only great game in the series.
>Super was pretty good though
Fucking kill yourself you faggot
What's so good about TOK? When I first saw the battle system it turned me away from the game
>Captcha: 4AMTT
64, TTYD, Super, and Origami king are all great
Color Splash is fine
Paper Mario only has one outright bad game
>SPM has the heart and soul of the original two
I never really agreed with this. Beat for beat, the game is lacking in nearly every department compared to its predecessors. No actually interesting partners, the writing feels lackluster in general, the soundtrack is largely unmemorable with a few standout exceptions, and the character designs, while interesting at first, are ultimately just wacky geometry with very few distinguishable features. It has its moments, but I honestly think there's a pretty large power gap in quality between Origami King and Super.
The best parts of TOK were the parts where you could avoid battles altogether with a vehicle. There's nothing to admit. I can admit that SPM wasn't totally butchered.
Alright guys time to report in.
It still baffles me why they never made another game like this. The mini Mario titles are a completely different genre. They're still fun but not what people who played DK94 and MvDK wanted
>Final Fantasy
>Far Cry
>Castlevania
>Resident Evil
>What's so good about TOK? When I first saw the battle system it turned me away from the game
The battle system is the one bad part of the game, which is very unfortunate. What stops that from utterly ruining it is that the game does not punish you at all for skipping battles, so you don't actually need to do much of it.
Not Megaman, that's for sure!
Sticker star is overhated. I like the game most of the time. Fighting Bosses were the thing that sucked the most
>Yoshi(Everything after Yoshi Island 1 and 2 sucked ass)
>Sonic(Fuck Secret Rings for starting this mess)
>Chibi Robo(Fuck Tanabe and Nintendo for this)
>Spyro(Nearly every game is absolute dogshit)
Also series that can be debated they suffer from the same issue
>Xeno series
>Persona
>Trails
>Fire Emblem
>Pikmin
>Resident Evil
I suppose I'm the average modern fan now since I've enjoyed Origami King.
>Vivian is the best partner and I want her (?) to marry me
What is there to like about the game when there's no incentive to actually play it? A turn based RPG with no sense of progression is definitely one of the dumbest concepts ever fabricated for a video game.
I feel like dropping dead after 2 games is the most common way game series go bad. One bad game after one good game often leads to a third game not getting made, or otherwise has a big turnaround like DMC where the devs realize things went wrong, but it feels like the transition from the first game to eventually the third leads developers to lose the plot on WHY people liked the first game (e.g. Paper Mario turning into LOOK THEY'RE PAPER LOOK gradually, which started with the second game but didn't become an actual problem until later), but two successful and beloved games is enough to guarantee more in the future.
In KH's case, though I haven't played that garbage, from an outsider it looks like it just collapsed in on the density of its lore. Two games got made which were kind of bonkers but people liked the gameplay, the characters, and the crossover stuff, and then they made thirty spinoffs all of which made the lore problems much worse and are all considered important to follow what's going on. When the numerical "third" game finally got made the damage was done
I like Yoshi's Story a lot more than YIDS, though everything after YIDS is leagues worse I'll agree
Is Yoshi's Island 2 Yoshi Story? Wooly World had its moments.
>P5 is bad
When this shit meme will stop?
