user, Episode 4's plot was fucking stupid, but they didn't retcon PSO2 into being fiction. What was happening was that the MOTHER Corps had set up PSO2 in their universe as a way to create thousands of fake people in the PSO2 universe to act as unwitting spies.
Basically, if you've ever heard of the cut Half Life 2 manhack arcade thing, it was that being even more retarded.

I was paying attention. That was literally the whole point, that the bodies people were using to interface with PSO2 were just photon constructions. At no point is it said that PSO2 itself is fiction, unless NGS did some fuckshit I'm not aware of because I uninstalled it about a year ago.
