Switch surpasses Wii and PS1 in sales

>While Sony’s report for the last quarter of 2021 had some disappointing sales figures, Nintendo’s prospects seem to be much more positive. The best way to discover more about a company is to dive into its numbers. With the final quarter report for Nintendo hitting us now, we’ve got the chance to see what is happening in Mario’s house.

>As expected, the Switch continues to hit sales milestones. In the last quarter of 2021, it broke 100 million units sold. Worldwide, the Switch has sold just over 103.5 million units. It reached the milestone faster than the PlayStation 4 and Wii, and has surpassed the lifetime sales of the PlayStation 1 and the Wii. While it is unfair to compare sales across console generations, since the gaming industry is much bigger than it was when the PS4 was launched, it is still an important milestone for the console to hit.

Nearly 5 years old too. So it has 1 year to garner up another 14 million units to surpass the PS4. and 55 million units to reach number 1.

They have nearly 2 years until the next console, and even after that they'll probably sell 5-10 million more as cheap bundles. My prediction
2022: 19 million sales
2023: 12 million sales
2024: 5 million sales
>2025: 3 million sales
for a total of around 142 million
However if they wait until 2024 to launch it then it reaches DS/PS2 numbers

the switch will still be selling well in stores 2/3 years after the switch 2 is out.

>Switch is just in the middle of its lifecycle and the momentum going into this year is good. The Switch is ready to break a pattern of our past consoles that saw momentum weakening in their sixth year on the market and grow further.

Nah, they have plenty of time.

No it isn't, for the exact reason stated earlier in the sentence. Completely meaningless article.

Game consoles last upwards from 4-7 years.
Switch is currently sitting at 5. It's on it's way out of the industry and it will be hard pressed to get surge in purchases.

To be fair middle of its lifecycle does not mean halfway over. They've been saying it's in the middle of its lifespan for 2 years now, so clearly they don't literally mean it's at the halfway point. Personally I am expecting late 2023 to early 2024. It probably depends a lot on how sales look over the next 2 years. The OLED boost kept them up in 2021 but we'll see what it does for them in 2022. If OLED sales stay stable then maybe they wait until 2024, but if OLED sales fall off later in the year then they really have no choice but a late 2023 launch.

>the PS2 will lose the crown in your lifetime
It's not fair bros.

>shit like pokemon arceus comes out
>looks like a budget ps2 game
>switch sells 100 million units anyway
how the fuck? ps5 and sex are doing ray tracing and switch is runing games that have no anti aliasing

Maybe graphics don't really matter.

No one is buying the switch for Pokemon Legends man. People buy the switch for stuff like Zelda, Animal Crossing, Mario Kart, etc. Pokemon sells because jimmy has a switch and grandma needs to buy a birthday present.

Fucking retards, there won't be any new hardware any time soon with this shortage. Thanks to Crypto faggots.

>he doesn't know

>2022
>thinks graphics matter
Nigga look at the most successful games going right now. What sells doesn't push graphics/tech anymore.

Grapchicsfags did we lose?

>no one is buying for
this is the most delusional post i have ever read in my entire life

Yes. Yes you did.

How many games on PS5 and X/S that aren't available on other platforms including last gen systems? Now, how many PS5s and X/S are available to people without having to go through bots and scalpers?
That's why the Switch is doing so well.

I don't care.
Pic related is what the aveage Switch user looks liike while Playstation chads are all tall and musclar.
