Console Demo Units at Department Stores

Where did these all go? I remember they had consoles at walmarts and targets loaded up with all kinds of game demos that you could play with controllers. Around 2010 or so they disappeared from pretty much all stores except electronics ones and gamestops.

They don't even make demo versions anymore.

because you have to buy the demos now(the games on the racks all need day 1 patches which means you are playing an unfinished game=demo)

I played a 20 minute demo of Ocarina of Time in 1998 and got it for christmas that year with DK64.

kiosks with demos still existed for PS4 and switch, not sure if PS5 has a kiosk version or if switch kiosks still get new demos.

I remember deleting a save from someone which clearly came to the store daily to play and finish Uncharted for the Vita, every day he would add 2-4 hours of play time on that thing, he was really stacked in the game, so on my 5th day I just delete his save, not sure what happened then because it was the last time I was in a physical tech store
