The problem isn't the cold. All the way through central texas we usually get a couple days of hard freeze every year. West texas and the pan handle get cold as fuck pretty regularly.
The problem is we don't get a lot of ice or snow, so its fucks shit up because no one knows how to handle driving on ice and snow. No one had snow tires, or have fleets of plows and salt trucks.
And you really don't need to because as often as not its gone by the afternoon if it even sticks to the roads at all.
Hell even last year with the blizard, yeah it was a week of some snow and it got cold, and then that sunday it was 75 fucking degrees out and you couldn't tell what had happened except for all the busted bits of fender and headlights in the gutters.

Well if it’s any consolation it makes no difference if you get a lot of snow each year or not, unless it’s year round all it takes is 6-7 months of no snow for everyone to forget. I’m in the North East and we get quite a bit most years like clockwork people try driving as per usual and end up off the road or sliding into shit like idiots. Good luck with it all
