3 is open world and has like 70 lots per world compared to around 10 or even less in Sims 4.
In sims 4 if you want to go to a gym, you click on the building, get a loading screen and your character teleports there. In sims 3 your sim actually drives a car (driving is a secret skill too) to the gym with no loading screen
Sims 3 vanilla runs like shit and needs a few mods and tweaks but there is so much more compared to 4 like story progression and create a style.
4 has a better building mode and UI and more custom content

Bro I edged like every day for 3 months except the weekends when I first got sims 4 for free from EA and whickedwhims. The magic was eventually lost because after all that time you can step back and see how terrible the Sims 4 is and how fucking ugly it looks. I prefer blender porn now.
