Gen 1 is that powerful. I don't blame you if you're a little younger but Pokémon's brand strength rests entirely on Gen 1 doing the heavy lifting.

It's neat that Greninja won but its vote count is based upon a lack of competition. Charizard got #1 in Gen 1 despite a major line up of iconic Pokémon. Chandelure got #1 in Gen 5 despite getting almost nothing in terms of shilling.
