Ardyn/FF15 and Emet/ShB were essentially Kefka archetypes in a FF6 story structure.

But Ardyn was a good character

He was barely even in the game and you dont know his deal until like the last 2 hours of the game. Most of FFXVs conflict is astonishingly weak.

This, meanwhile Emet-Selch makes a point of meeting you right after his expac starts, and you hang out and talk to him all through it, get to know each other, and it barely even comes as a surprise when it turns out he has an actual good motivation and that while fate has forced you into conflict you were once and could still be friends. One of XIV's greatest strengths is that every single villain is kino and this based autist, who is still better than most other FF villains, is considered the weakest of the lot in terms of character.
