I still find it bizarre how human culture changed almost overnight the moment smart phones became popular.

to be fair, it was unavoidable. digital cameras and fotologs attracted normies to the internet like moths to a light source. as soon as they became proeminent it was already over. orkut already set the tone and was soon followed by myspace.
now, as far as gaming goes, it should have been kept as a guilty pleasure but gaymers couldn't stop talking about how videogames are their personality.
so now we're at this point. some businessman has to decide between spending millions into creating a game that'll cater to loads of people or spending the same millions of dollars for a few. it's an easy conclusion.

You have to understand that the "culture" you're seeing online in social media is just a vocal minority, but politicians look at it as a reflection of society as a whole. That's why shit appears so fucked up, yet people you meet in real life seem mostly sane.
