Lets be honest here, is La Mulana a good game?

No. The first half is good, but the second half drags it down way too much to call it good overall.
Yes.
The Sequel is also good.
The sequel is better because they polished the cryptic stuff more so it doesn't feel as bulshitty.
The first one I wouldn't really recommend unless you are ok with using guides to finish games.

Yes. great game, 10/10 OST
2 is mechanically better, but the OST isn't nearly as good.
You can get a solid 30ish hours out of it before the Gate of Illusion roadblocks you. So if you’re okay with dropping the game partway through I recommend it.
Fantastic game, wish there was more dungeon delving games with this much lore.
I beat hell temple and both games overall
I fucking hate these shitty games, all the praise is from sanctimonious penis munching faggots.
Difficulty is one thing but both lamulana games are assanine. I do appreciate the depth that the developers research foreign cultures though that's pretty tight.
Environmental station alpha is better
Yeah, it's just that 2 flows better. There's a lot of obtuse things in 1 that will eventually see you using a guide unless you really have been taking notes or doing some real outside-the-box thinking on top of stuff like manually translating the language after having a translator for hours at that point.
If you're OK with using guides it's worth the experience, but I do admit once you do you probably won't drop it either, it only gets more cryptic as you get closer to the end. I didn't finish 2, but that's because I got my game bugged apparently, it was a lot easier to get shit done there though. Probably one of the few cases where making it easier didn't really ruin the experience like people fear with games like Dark Souls.
La Mulanafags be like "ah yes this looks like a fun experience"
What's wrong with a lot of content?
For me it was mantra BS but yes even not finishing it the game i already good for the sense of exploration you get from it before quitting
To be fair, it is, that's a lot of game to get through. But on the other hand that image's hinting you need to manually translate some tablets yourself until you get the right upgrades to do it. On the other hand there's probably a lot of resources to help with that shit if you do want to crack at it yourself before going for a guide.
It just looks like a lot but after you get the hang of it you end up getting a lot done and you don't even have a fixed order to do it so you end up always feeling like you are slowly progressing until you just can't anymore
It IS a good game, but not for the average person. It's deliberately unfair and completely aware of this choice - In fact, it relishes in that decision to be a bullshit unfair game. Still, it's really interesting and well put together and more than most games it really feels like a difficult journey.
Best explat out there.
2 was WAAAY bulshittier with trapdoors and knockback into spikes shit tho
If it’s unfair to the point of being boring, making you put in basically a whole 40 hour work week at least to get through the bullshit, it’s not a good game.
It's not a good game but it's memorable and worth experiencing.

the best
linear games where you can turn off your brain can be good
complex, challenging games where you have to put in effort to advance can also be good
neither is automatically good or bad
It's my own damn fault. I didn't believe.
This, but unironically
