Why is the word "gamer" so cringe and loathed?
Why is the word "gamer" so cringe and loathed?
Us gamers have defeated ancient dragons, explored beyond the vast reaches of space, and conquered nations. When someone asks "why don't you want to see France?", we know that the nation can be toured in multiple games. We are gamers, not because we have no life, but because we have many. Game on.
Because gamers are cringy and loathsome
Who is a gamer and why are you not one?
>because Any Forums doesn't play video games
Be more original, please.
the "Gamer" word was invented by Executives to "tokenice" the customers of games, and marketize them easier
its literally a buzzword
All gamers are cringy and loathsome. I am not cringy or loathsome. Therefore, I am not a gamer.
Indeed, me neither. I prefer the term "player".
>I am not cringy or loathsome.
Hearsay is not a valid form of evidence in a court of law.
Damn right, player.
Because its a relic from 90's and very early 00's commercials/adverts.
Was meant to imply a lifestyle by marketing suits in order that a particular console or game series might sell a few more units.
>youre a REAL gamer right??
>then buy this [insert x]!!!
As a subculture it had some validity back then as well, gamers were geeks, etc etc.
But its long since lost value and truth be told it deserves to be retired.
However... I refuse to retire it simply to spite the lefty commie tranny nigger shitbags who so desperately want it to die, as a term.
They made it political so fuck em. We keep it for as long as it triggers them I say.
because it is a shitty way to identify someone. you don't identify someone as a "TV watcher", why do we have a word to identify someone who enjoys a specific type of entertainment?
Do you mean gamer as in someone that likes video games? Or gamer as in the word that is filtered from cúmbrain
"The average TV watcher"
Doesn't sound awkward. It's kind of executive-speak but it's not out of place.
Does kind of give validity to , though.
It's a shitty word. You don't call people who read books "bookers", you call them readers.
Why would people who play games be called gamers?
Because you haven't thought of a better fucking word to describe people whose favorite hobby are video games.
because games are stupid and bad so the people that like them are also stupid and bad
I like jogging, so I'm a jogger. I like making chairs, so I'm a bodger. I like playing games, so I'm a gamer. I don't think these terms would ever be used for some other reason.
Gamesmen
You'll just incur the wrath of the feminists.
Gamesmyn
A rose by any other name would smell as sweet. Or, the problem is not the name but what is named.
I am a human who happens to play videogames. I also work on cars, shoot the rooty tooties, make bonfires, play pool and darts, cook steaks, drink beer, etc.
Anybody who takes a single one of their hobbies as representative of their entire sense of self is pathetic.
No one said I give two SHITS about what you think of my existence.
>women will never love you or want your penis in them
gamers
Okay? That's probably good, I think? Or maybe I struck a nerve and you really do give a shit.
Because the game industry wants to continually grow to improve share prices, and they have saturated the gamer market.
Now they want to appeal to super normies, that would be intimidated by being called a gamer.
These companies are not your friends, these developers aren't either. All they care about is the mass market, and they will dumb the games down more and more to appeal to them. They know you'll buy them regardless, because they buy up anyone that makes anything better and force them to make shit too.
I just didn't want to leave your post without some sort of response.
xoxo
I haven't played video games since 2017 cuz I don't want to be associated with GAYmers. Now I just enjoy interactive electronic media.
