Yes and no. You don't really need to shell out lots of money to make a good deck thanks to structure decks and reprints but if you want to play the topest of decks that can easily cost £200+.

Retard. It's a trap which is slow and requires 2 of your own cards to be destroyed which isn't guaranteed. Then you run into the problem that the stardust dragon wasn't synchro summoned so it doesn't get its effect which makes it good in the first place.

At worst this card just bricks a slot in your spell/trap zone. At best you negate destruction and get a mediocre beatstick. It's a perfectly mediocre card.

Enjoying this deck so far. Usually end on some combination of Appollousa, Restrict, Bardiche and/or Rhongo.

Torn Scales should have been a UR with how powerful it is Phantom Knights, especially since Phantom Knights only really need the one bardiche since they summon it back so easily.

It was a very simple RPS cycle. Traps, Magic Cards, and Monsters. When they introduced effect monsters, they balanced them out by making them weak and needing to be flip summoned for stronger effects. They tried to give balance back to normal monsters by making cards that let you summon them for free but as soon as negates and hand traps were introduced it all went to shit.

There shouldn't be decks that have an answer to everything just as there shouldn't be cards that can negate everything.

Oh, and Tuning allows for you to easily get started off by giving you effectively 6 copies of Jet Synchron, and if you include Pot of Prosperity that effectively guarantees this. And the combo lines can go in different directions, as Chaos Ruler, the Chaotic Magical Dragon allows you to search an Eldlich and then dump 4 other cards to the grave which can give multiple graveyard triggers with your various Eldlich traps, or even get an Eldlich to grave to bounce up for the invulnerable form.

On top of that, there's even more combo lines you can go down within the extra deck that adjust to your given situation. Bouncing with Knightmares, going into Selene via Halq summoning Effect Veiler rather than Deskbot so you can go for Accesscode, etc.
