SNES, Genesis, and PS2 all had great libraries, to name 3 "overrated" consoles mentioned in this thread. I do think however that the best NES games top most of the best SNES games.

No. Pound for pound best console in history. The amount of SOVL that came out of the 16bit era will never be touched. Period. End of story. Yes good things still came after-- but many 32 bit titles were really the last hurrah of a 16 bit era.

Get fucked zoomer, I grew up playing all the aforementioned consoles. SNES has some great titles, but most of the classics among classics were on NES.

There were very few SNES games that I recall not being worth playing. Even the bad ones were worth trying out. If you didn't like a game, it was more than likely due to your lack of interest in the genre rather than a lack of quality.
The NES, however, had more than its fair share of crap. The good old seal of quality didn't mean shit.

The SNES is full of amazing follow-up (Mario,Zelda,Megaman,Metroid) and original games (Starfox at the time, Chrono Trigger, Donkey Kong Country, Actraiser, Soul Blazer)
It's not the N64 which has like 5 games in total but is remembered fondly
