There are a few reasons as to why people don't like him. I think it may some of the following reasons:
>Stole money from other games to help fund BL2 and BL3
>Stole Borderland's iconic artstyle wholesale from an independent artist
>Seems to have aggression issues, such as physically assaulting the original VA for Claptrap
>Shows strange tendencies which may imply him being on the spectrum, including lacking social skills and normal body language
>His studio was tasked with making that Aliens Colonial Marines game and shipped it in a broken state, which most of the money used to make BL2
>As a follow up, Colonial Marines' AI was fixed by fixing a single line of code, which some random dude was able to do.
>Bought the rights to Duke Nukem, immediately removed the Duke Nukem 3D Megaton Edition from sale so that he could rerelease an inferior version
>Has gotten on stage and sung cringey songs about Gamergate and sexism to a crowd of confused onlookers
>Oversaw the writing for BL3, which was horribly cringing (gameplay was good though)
>Killed Battleborn by making it a competition between Battleborn and Overwatch
>Tried to make a Battleborn porn subreddit and pretend he "just found it"
