Most of these guys use DAZ3d. Which has free components, and you can buy models if you want to. Thats why you see the same hairstyles so often, because they use the same library. The reason they use it, is because its easier to do than learning how to draw quality art, or learning how to make models yourself in blender or something. And most of these guys are 3rd worlders with an idea, free time and the promise of earning many times the income they would otherwise get.
The problem is, is that you need to understand modeling, posing and managing lighting if you want them to look good.
