the self-shadowing on that helicopter STILL looks contemporary right fucking now. insane. the vehicles in BF2 looked more than a generation ahead of their time.
they used fucking ray-tracing to get contact shadows like that in recent games. I have no idea how BF2 did it. does every vehicle have its own shadow map?? does every dynamic object have one?
