Here is the thing about remakes, it never tries to improve things, its a beat by beat recreation of the main subjects using modern technologies, while removing the more weird and difficult aspects of the original.

Yeah they don't consider it racist any more unless you paint their lips red and make them charcoal colored.

That's an adaptation though
it wasn't remaking the old movie, it was adapting the book in a different way
