You missed a big part of the point if you think WoL was the one who saved the day in EW.
It wasn't, it was Eorzeans and the WoL together over the course of the game (from 2.0 onwards) strengthening eachother in turn through the hardships they all faced and put eachother through.
WoL was just the person who brought Eorzea together under the banner of "this guy literally helped all of us at one point or another" and then delivered their collective answer to the Meteia.

The depictions you're referring to (created by the maddened Emet-Selch, by the way) only existed to illustrate Emet's motivations. There is hardly anything "utterly mad" about trying to save your people when you have the power to do it. The entire theme of accepting loss is utterly retarded when EW shows the people lost to zodiark never fucking died in the fist place when all of their souls are perfectly in tact, and turning back the clock is a totally viable solution an actual psychopath didn't want to take because she thinks she knows best.

Even without knowing that they were dealing with Dynamis, they were able to neutralize it by creating Zodiark, if Venat didn't hide the info from them, they could have come up with a better solution

She didn't make the choice on her how and she didn't need to temper anyone to agree with her either, there was a sizeable opposition party under Venat's leadership.
The cutscene in Amaurot wasn't literally what happened, it was an abridged retelling of events.

According to ShB, the Hydalyn faction only wanted to keep Zodiark in check and stop them from sacrificing the new life that was born into the world to bring back the old life, not sundering the whole fucking world, and EW didn't dig into this any further than we already knew, we only saw Venat's perspective, and herself alone.

And he was a good friend.

Hydaelyn also sundered them because the Ascians were too close to forming the perfect world, even if they did beat the Endslinger they would eventually tire of existence without pain and sorrow. So she made everyone inferior to give them more purpose. Ascians were already killing themselves by the time the WoL came remember.
