yeah, but the objective cannot be as a business to perpetually sell cards, there's a completed state the game will arrive at and you just ensure availability of the current cards

Yes, if you make a short-lived one so the game dies before powercreep happens.

Yes. Have a clear idea of how many turns on average a game should last, and build off of that. Adjust based on number you receive from the community, and you are good.

Any card game that revolves around selling new cards will inevitably suffer from power creep, because there's two ways to make people want to buy new cards-

1. Make them interesting and fun
2. Make them more powerful than older cards

Now take a guess which one of these is a hell of a lot easier from a design perspective.

You can do this by introducing formats. Like MTG does

52 pickup is still going strong

You made it sound so fucking easy.

There was a TCG that came out years ago that essentially did away with card rarity.

They found that people didn't buy anything if that gambling element wasn't present.

they could literally just keep selling the card's skin and foil
heck even selling animated card and voiceline would works
Shadowverse manage to do it for a bit but they end up powercreep the shit out of everything anyway

Yeah its very easy just add rotation and reset the power lever every time a set rotates
But why would you do that, that doesnt give you money.

user, I'm not sure how to tell you this, but WotC has been systematically powercreeping their formats for years. Standard is the only format "immune" to powercreep, but every other format has been getting worse. Even the casual weenie hugbox EDH is getting powercreeped to shit.

why would I waste money on a pack if every card is 5 cents?

Oh I see, by making all the shit you bought completely unrelevant and making you buy more shit and then killing the game. Thx!

Make all the cards, and balance them, before releasing the game?

is there a card that breaks eldlich i can splash in ?

Yes, it's called having a format that uses only the last few sets, you might still get a general increase in power but there's a cap on how cancerous things can get that way

d.d. crow

Literally some of the most important cards in the game were from base set and older sets what the fuck are you talking about?

Game is dead they killed it and instead of powercreep they banned shitload of sets.

Even standard isn't immune to powercreep. Once you get powerful cards floating around in standard it's difficult to walk that powerlevel back.

They banned specific cards, out of 1000+ they banned maybe 5 or 10, some of them were older cards and not even newer ones

Well they made peoples pockets empty if you wanted to be competetive.

Ok well if you are looking for a card game where this doesn't exist here you go

It's impossible to have a long running game without power creep. Impossible

This is a bad example because Blue Eyes is still viable thanks to the shit ton of support cards it has
