it's kind of cool if you're already a fan but a bullshit way to experience the real game if you haven't

no.

Nearly everything about it is much worse than the original

this, only recommend it for a replay

the translation is closer to the original script

By far, except the music. But being exclusive still incites illogical rage from the destitute.

Which is a bad thing because Kojima is a bad writer. The Blaustein localization is a big part of what made MGS1 so memorable

That boxart is horrid, but yes.

yeah, the only people will tell you otherwise are sonyfags who are still butthurt 2 decades later.

The red one for the EU release is top tier.

>Remake a game with new mechanics but also do nothing to make the game actually match those new mechanics
fuck no

OHN says it's bad, and I get all my MGS opinions from drk, so Twin Snakes is bad because.... because it just is ok???

Fuck no
I beat the original twice and I couldn’t get past the title sequence

Depends on how you feel about kojima alot the change that this version has are because of him, Silicon Knights had a famous Japanese action movie director named Ryuhei Kitamura writing and directing the cutscenes, which were originally identical to the original MGS's. After Kojima saw the first completed cutscenes, though, he asked that they instead do them in Kitamura's typical film style. The point stands: Kojima's responsible for these particular changes most MGS fans dislike.
So basically this kojima unfiltered

Imagine the furore if they'd changed it, though. At least there's no requirement to use the MGS2 mechanics.

For a 1st run, no. The mgs2 additions break whatever challenge the game had. On a replay, yes. Its fun to see what you can do to break the game, and the sections where you backtrack across the entire game map have secrets to severely shorten them

Git gud, scrub.
