No need to desalinate, just fertilise and let them grow.
Hell, you could even plumb the exhaust from a natural gas plant into the water post scrubber and let the algae use the CO2 for growth

probably not, i would think the other production byproducts would kill algae.
But still, algae is the future, The missing link in a sustainable future. Produce algae, ake bio plastic and biofuel that all degrades into co2 in less than 50 years. A truly carbon neutral future. And then we'll finally get fusion working and figure out carbon nanotubes and shit and it'll all be a happy memory. Upwards to the stars. Eventually, the aliens will reveal that they exist, their civilizations are all over, just hidden with super alien space tech, and they were waiting for us to be mature enough to speak to them and also have sex with them.
