10-year-old Ash Ketchum arrives to the new region to start a new Pokemon journey. Following him is a girl who's based on the female game mc, and the first gym leader of the region. Over time they encounter many things, such as battling gym leaders, participating in contests, dealing with a dangerous criminal organization, and getting annoyed by Team Rocket constantly. Unfortunately, Ash does not win the regional league, but he is still a good sport for not giving up. Eventually the gang part ways to continue their separate journey, and Ash heads back to Pallet Town.
