power is addictive, it does to the brain what any other addiction does. they need more and more of it to feed their addiction. and they will do, say, or even think whatever it takes to justify that.
as they sit there eating their fancy meal discussing how to take our food out of our mouths and how to control the very words we can say, they are thrilled, elated, excited. tweaking out. junkie brains

think of how someone with a porn addiction will need weirder and weirder shit over time to get off. think of how someone with a heroine addiction would steal from his own mother to buy more heroine, take too much heroine, and end up in an ambulance.
now consider how some people end up power tripping even when given the most mundane jobs, say office manager or security guard. most people can handle that much power without becoming raging power junkies that have lost all reason, but not all.
when it comes to the most powerful, it's too much power. humanity was never designed or evolved to handle that much power. its just too much for the human mind to take. they all break. they all become junkies, their sanity addled by the constant overwhelming need to feed their addictions by constantly acquiring more and more power and control. if you had the power they do, you would go mad too, we all would. they're addicts, they're sick.

technology has advanced to the point that would allow total control over humanity for someone in charge. This would of course be easier the less people there are, to a certain point. Ultimately, the amount of people we have now is too high for the liking of the people who want to use this technology. It is too risky. With so many people, something random could happen that challenges their path towards this complete technological domination (ruling over mankind like gods forever).
If you look at everything they do through this lens and see that they are motivated by retaining this control in order to implement such a system their moves make a lot more sense. They don't look so much like incompetent retards, but more like operators working towards a common goal.
