But FR tho - what does Any Forums think about Sam Hyde's Mondo Megabits NFT project? Minting is happening today in under 8 hours. I'll buy some not because I believe it will make me rich, but because I want to support Sam in making his video game project and I genuinely like the aesthetics of this project.
But what do you think? Can it raise in value? Would you buy it as an "investment"?
it took them 2 years to develop the first set and it will take 2 more sets to be playable, aka 4 years minimum. enjoy bagholding to support this retard

I don't think it's openly offensive or racist or anything... I don't think Open sea would ban it, that doesn't make sense. Why is it dogshit according to you? Do you think NFTs are shit in general, or you only think this particular one is?
im not buying this shit and i say that even though i have bought some of his shirts this just seems like an attempt to get some easy cash from sam

this one in particular hasn't been thought through and it's trying to be defended as "oh u just argue about how your card works". you don't need the nft to play the game. the only way the nfts will be worth lots as a collectible is if they grow mondo into something huge, however clearly that's not their intention otherwise it wouldve been carefully considered. there is no vision of the future except "MUH $1m tournament we'll host" like that jew would throw away $1m to watch his 16yr old audience argue over cards full of references they don't understand.
it's a cashgrab. the gameplay could've been thought up in a week. the art took the two years but even then it's just blender.

Yeah, I already got burned buying Stonetoss NFTs. Not gonna buy any more NFTs made by nazis. Not because I don't love nazis and hate Jews, because believe me I do, but I also hate losing money.

You're probably right about the rules, I don't think they take the whole card game aspect very seriously. But I think the aesthetics and why it probably took so much time is because it is directly related to the vidya game, no? So there is some potential for growth imho.
Calling Sam Hyde "nazi" unironically seems a little bit jewy to me, Shlomo. Is this your first day on job? Or you trying to be funny? How much money you lost on stonetoss NFTs?
no, there is no potential for growth. the aesthetics are mid at best, but nothing like a timeless value retaining piece of art. I doubt all get minted for 0.25 eth each in a bear market.

I haven't actually tried to sell any but the market seems very illiquid since they got banned from all the major trading platforms. But the price generally is below mint price in ETH, not even accounting for the drop of price in ETH since then.

I think user is being more than generous on his take here, giving that he seems to know a little background about the project and reference material. To someone like me on the outside it looks atrocious, color scheme is grating and the text feels like I'm reading a bazooka Joe comic. To hear the art took 2 YEARS to produce this, is all I need to know about this project. Very late to the party. A million and one NFT card game projects have come and gone. Hopefully you can get your money back on this at some point OP, but I wouldn't get your hopes up on a miracle.

I believe a good gauge for community hype is how many reacts the announcments channel gets on discord, it's atrocious given the project's supply & price. their twitter is dead too, getting less than 50 likes on average. and it won't even be listed on opensea so good luck getting volume

I didn't buy anything yet. But maybe will today... I'll think about it. It would be my first NFT and I'm cautious. The art style isn't for everyone, I get it. But at least it's objectively consistent with aesthetics of the video game being worked on now a it's also consistent with the style of MDE and HWD graphics that Sam worked on. It's intentionally abrasive post-ironic/internet/digital/modern style that is spoofing bad CGI/3D graphics of early internet and overall corporate bullshit. Also the analog glitch effects are spot on, because they were recorded on a real CRT tv - same approach Alien: Isolation took to capture the oldschool, dark atmosphere the first Alien movie had and that was highly successful btw. I think this style perfectly reflects the current information overload degeneracy muck we are drowning in. In that way, it's pretty deep, not just some hipsterish retro surface bullshit. This style was utilized by other works in different media in a interesting way - look at Cruelty Squad for example... Anyway, I don't think that it took such a long time because of the art style alone. I think it was mainly because of the connection with the game they are working on simultaneously.
I don't know shit about NFTs desu. But I do believe in Sam's creative vision and I also think he's one of very few people that got some kind of success and never sold out. At least he has some integrity. That's why I'm thinking about buying into his NFT project, otherwise I wouldn't care.
Yeah, I think that's fair. Their Twitter doesn't get a lot of traction so it looks like there won't be a lot of buyers. At the same time, if Sam is good at something, it's getting attention and creating genuine fan involvement. He got cancelled and somehow managed to convince a lot of people to subscribe to his gumroad, even without other MDE members.. that's impressive and I think it's because he's genuine and genuinely funny. That's rare. so I am still torn on if this NFT project makes sense or no
Jayden Collins
it doesnt make sense. gg
Cameron Rogers
damn I thought it would be smart to at least mint a few of them but maybe you're right
Jaxson Myers
it could be a smart play as long as you take out your initial before the first 3 days hype dies down. I'll pass for now though.
