Why do houses have so many fucking windows? Especially on ground level. This is a major security hole. When I am sleeping and a band of burglars decides to break in, I have no idea which direction they could be coming from, since the entire ground floor is surrounding by openings. At any time of night, someone could be peeping in one of the windows, so I have to autistically manage 35 different blinds/shutters to feel any sense of basic comfort at night. It's basically just inviting criminals in. There is no reason for this. A house should have one entrance and many exits. When I buy a house I am going to have to place metal bars over every single window so I can have some semblance of security. Not to mention the insulation issues they cause, which means higher utility bills.

Natural light is healthy you fuckin dork

This isn't an issue. You can build openings that don't introduce security threats that let in natural light everywhere. Modern windows are designed specifically and solely for the purpose of allowing burglars and murderers to enter homes. Prove me wrong.
that's a mcmansion, not a real house
All houses have this problem, not just McMansions.
Also, let's take a look:
According to a United States Department of Justice report:
>38% of assaults & 60% of rapes occur during home invasions.
>Over 2,000,000 homes will experience a break-in or burglary this year.
>There are over 4,500 home burglaries per day in the United States.
No one can tell me that this isn't due solely and completely to window design on all of our housing (aside from the obvious I don't need to mention).
that's real brick, not a facade. looks comfy even if a little tasteless imo
Go back to retardit with your bullshit logic. What is a fire and not wanting to end up like the holohox story books for 2000 alex...
that house is probably $500k in Wyoming, but $20 million in California
>what is anti burglar window film
>what is laminated glass
shits extremely tough
>A house should have one entrance and many exits.
Come back when you acquire reading comprehension.
I'm sure it's some retarded cultural holdover from ancient french nobles who liked to flex on each other by paying obscene amounts of money to get giant windows that spanned 3 floors and need a team of 30 servants to clean every day because all the coal dust kept dirtying them up.
Natural light, ventilation, and air flow were also big concerns in more recent eras, but you also had retarded shit like heating systems that expected you to open your windows in winter so you wouldn't overcook or suffocate yourself from gas heating. In fact, a lot of houses built in the last century tend to have some pretty severe problems with insulation and temperature retention in all seasons, partly because the fucking windows are made from garbage glass and sealed by stuffing old newspaper into the cracks.
Even if no on breaks in, you're still getting robbed on your energy bill every month.
I think I can solve this
Instead of putting everyone we trust and everything we want to save inside of a house and fortifying that house,
we put everyone we trust and everything we want to save inside of an area, then we build walls around that area and put all the security measures around that wall so we can have all the windows we want on our houses in the inside!
> house doesnt have 40 windows
> still has a few
> burglar just picks another window beforw robbing you
user i think the solution is to move somewhere people arent so poor and broke that burglary is common enough to even care about besides having a lock
I would put a house alarm and security cameras at minimum and have arms staged in different parts of the house of have them on you. House alarms are pretty fucking loud. Not many people would stick around with that thing going off, unless they didn’t care about getting caught.
Just live in a gated, all-white, upper class neighborhood, idiot
And I have an easy way to cut down on about 50% of that, too...
I think castles are badass too. A moat would help too.
>moves to nice neighborhood
>thinks he won't get robbed
>mfw robbers come to his neighborhood explicitly because the houses are nice
you think people are out there committing felonies in section 8 housing? to steal what? some ramen noodles and a broken playstation?
It's a reminder that this used to be a different country, but most people think it is still that country, it's some real naivety I know. In addition to the big burglar-attracting windows, they also loved lack of any kind of fences and gates, and basically no deadbolts and no kind of thinking about security at all.
Man, that must've been some country they had!
