Going pro in chess

Hey guys, i'm 20 years old, what do you think is it financially possible to go pro in chess? I just started playing 1 year ago and realized this is what i want to do with my life. I already have a rating of 1500 on chess com, which is very good for only 1 year of grind. I am now a neet and ready to grind non-stop. Can i make it this way?

Go for it but have a back up plan in case it doesn't work out.

Nowadays maybe, but there's a lot of people much further than you at your age so you'd need to stand out somehow.

Yeah no problem if you're a charismatic 8/10 that's willing to go through the content meat grinder.

This. you should aim to become a youtuber that focuses on chess rather than making it on ability alone. that will be a much easier way. and as this guy says you gotta be interesting and that usually involves charisma, attractiveness, humour, intelligence. if youre a human calculator thats boring you likely wont make a lucrative career just from chess, especially starting at such a late age.

Becoming a pro poker player is probably more realistic and straightfoward

but im not charismatic i couldn't do that personality bro thing
would be fine if rake didn't fuck you long term

Well, it is a bit too late to stand out in chess at your age, as the best players are playing since 4/5 years old.

But it is possible to make content about it and make some money on the internet.

magnus carlsen had a higher rating at age 10

it's over for you

>a rating on chess.com
that's not how it works kid. Become member of a chess club and talk to them. Good luck, chess is awesome.

You started too late.
Impossible dude.
That rating sucks.

Think it
Dream it
Do it

I think what that user said is really good advice. I would at least try it out first and don't worry about looking autistic on camera because everyone starts out that way. You can make a shit load of money from having an online following. Years ago I used to be a wagie making 20K a year and I made 800K last year from being active and marketing myself on social media. Nowadays being good at something is worth fuck all if you don't showcase it to a wider audience.

whats your niche?

fuck you slime you bald headed little freak

1500 rating at the age of 20 is not impressive.
That's also an online rating, your USCF or FIDE rating is probably around 1200-1300.
You will be lucky if you can gain 100 rating points a year.
All these people are saying become a youtuber, that will never work for you. There are hundreds of Chess streamers who are grandmasters and have dedicated their life to Chess.
Most likely, you will never reach USCF 2000 rating, and even if you do that you will never reach National Master if at the age of 20 you are "1500 on Chess com". I will destroy you and chess and have no chess player has interest in watching a scrub.
You're going to have to spend a few years studying puzzles, as well as learning openings which i'm sure you're trash at. If you're planning on doing this alone, it will never happen. If you hire a chess coach, you might get better.
Your only chance is if you stream and the whole point is people get to watch a noob get better at the game.
Or, you can play chess in the park and charge people $5 a day.
I fucking hate you for thinking 1500 on chess com is very good for 1 year grind. That's trash, and you would lose to the Botez sisters.

t. In rapid chess my peak rating is 2115

Wow you're both bad at chess
