Basically every turn is a leap of faith because your x4 thunderbolt on Gyarados can become useless if it changes to ground and OHKO your electric Pokemon with STAB Earthquake

Any Pokemon can get a free set up by turn to Fire or Steel or Electric to become immune to burns, poison or paralysis
Any Pokemon with x4 weakness can switch type on the fly. Dragonite is x4 weak to Ice? No problem, now you become steel with multiscale.

I feel like we're talking about different numbers here. What's being doubled?
If STAB is being doubled, then it's 1.5*1.5, or 2.25.
If damage is being doubled after STAB, then it's 1.5*2, or 3.
Boosting twice becoming 2x only works for stat boosts. Raise attack once, and it's 1.5x. Raise it twice, and it's 2x.

Tera type is static unless you change it out of combat with an item. Retard. So if a Tera Type with Protean even exists it's not going to change it's Tera Type once you've Teralyzed it.
