So if I'm understanding correctly, a Pokemon will enter this mode and remain there until the end of the fight similar to megas. Most Pokemon will become an enhanced version of their primary type, gaining the matching crown, becoming JUST that type defensively, and then all of their STAB moves become more powerful, even ones for their secondary type. However, some Pokemon will have a unique third type that you must go out and find similar to their X Factor with GMax. If these Pokemon enter this form, they will effectively have a third type as they become a pure version of that third type then also gain STAB for that type and their original typing. Right?
So if I'm understanding correctly...
>everyone gets adaptability
oh boy
I wonder how this would work with abilities that change types like Protean or moves like soak.
>uses a move that matches his terra type and at least 1 original type it get‘s boosted
??? Double type moves?
Tera type gives Stab.
If your Pelipper goes flying type, Flying type moves receive STAB+. It gives more depth from having everyone breed and train for Steel type Tera, when they could also gain the Double stab instead.
So does that mean that (for example) the flying Pikachu still has electric STAB regardless of the type change?
Yeah but consider the following: Tera Steel Scizor with STAB+ Technician Bullet Punches and no Bug-type to nerf it.
The fire dragonite seems interesting.
Yeah that'll be an outrageously fucking good Pokemon, especially if he still has access to Choice Band or Life Orb. The obvious counterplay is bringing a Fire Tera Pokemon with high defense (Fire Slowbro with Flamethrower?)
Your reading comprehension is poor.
To receive the boost, it must match the Tera type and an original type. Pokemon are only going to have one tera type, so you can get an extra stab boost on ONE type.
So, if Pikachu goes electric/flying, you don't even get an extra boost because flying is not one of its *original types*
Presumably, you would get normal stab on any flying moves it carries, though.
I don't see the bit about becoming "just" that type defensively but maybe I haven't read it yet.
No, Only your Electric Pikachu will have stab on Electric moves, but it will be STAB+
Yeah, they haven't made it clear if there's a Hold Item that locks your transformation but I think it's safe to assume they are going the Dynamax route, in the sense that they want to allow more variety in the customization of your mons. Fire Slowbro sounds cool as hell too, but now I also kinda wanna see Fire Slowking with a hair ornament on top of its already-existing Shellder hat.
so, no defensive advantage at all?
>I don't see the bit about becoming "just" that type defensively but maybe I haven't read it yet.
You really can't read, can you? Jesus. Public school, I'm guessing.
I never said they wouldn't *gain* that type but that they wouldn't become *just* that type
i.e. flying pikachu becomes electric/flying, not just flying.
Obviously there's an advantage there defensively in avoiding ground and dunking on grass, fighting etc.
>Cititan is a slow Bulky Ice Type
>Terastallize into an Ice/Steel Type with Slush Rush
>Give it Heavy Slam and Ice Flare Blitz with Slack Off
Maybe it won't be a meme anymore...
You cant dual type
Seeing as one of the examples was making Pikachu an Electric/Flying type on the fly, it seems it'll have plenty of options to make it work, though who knows what Triple Types would bring to the game.
>First, each Pokémon has a Tera Type. A Pokémon's Tera Type is inactive until the Pokémon Terastallizes, at which time the Pokémon's type will change to its Tera Type.
>will change to its Tera Type
It doesn't add a type, it changes you to that type.
It makes it flying only.
This Marill raid only has the steel typing in the top left corner so maybe they don't become dual type?
They never did. It's mono type and you lose old stab
Or maybe the typing indicator is only indicative of the tera type
Whether it changes totally to the tera type or adds it or swaps secondary type is not clear from the text yet
>then also gain STAB for that type and their original typing.
I thought this originally but I dont think thats the case anymore. I think, once Gardevoir becomes Water-type, it is completely Water-type for all intents and purposes, and does not have STAB on Fairy or Psychic moves.
It's worded really weirdly on the website.
