3. Dispute, in writing, any statements on the PIP made about your performance issues that you have never received any sort of written counseling about.

I used to be a manager, inherited a team with some members. One of them was a girl, utterly useless yet arrogant as fuck. Analysis tasks given to her she couldn't manage, worse, she very confidently stated conclusions that were wrong. Wanted to fire her, another manager said I'd have to put her on PIP. Having this cunt on PIP for half a year to a year would mean she'd just sit around doing nothing for all that time. Probably would've had to pay her a severance even. Nah. No PIP.
Just treated her worse, excluded her from meaningful tasks. After 2 months she handed in her resignation. After her departure my team was great and made even better additions.
To OP: Just do nothing while on PIP and look for another job.

spent the best 6 months of my life on one of these at a public utility. I didn't think they would fire me because of all the dirt i had on them.
When they finally fired me, I blew the whistle on several investigations going on in the company and got 4 more people fired with me. It was all over the news, and a Top Kek

I got pip'd at the big rainforest, basically did nothing for 3 months will I job hunted, landed a job and increased my total comp by 60 grand, more money then I made as a young 20 something year old. Think of it as a blessing in disguise. You shouldn't be loyal to your company, you should leave after 1-2 years and move up, unless they can match your new job offers. They also can't verify your job offers so you can straight up lie, if they ask for your offers, you shouldn't be working for them anyway.
