Pokemon used to have crushes on humans all the time in the series (Bayleef & Latias w/ Ash, Jynx w/ Brock, that one Golduck w/ Misty), but TPC realized down the road would be problematic as fuck to actively acknowledge it so they made it so pokemon would exclusively fall for other pokemon (grovyle w/ mawile, buneary w/ pikachu, piplup & meowth w/ like a million other pokemon)
