I was actually looking into TC early on and started my own code for a mixer with a different focus. Abandoned the project because I wasn’t abke to technically complete it.

But now I am furious that they could have put me in prison if I had tried to make this work together with others.

What if code someone wrote, 10+ years ago that had nothing to do with crypto was specially designed to go against governments in some way? Would "free speech" really pass in court?

The Infura bottleneck affects the website's frontend, it's where the site is hosted, whereas the dapp is hosted on EVM nodes. You can still interact with the dapp by creating your own frontend but you'd need an indepth knowledge on how it functions.

Anyone extradited to the US could mount a freedoms of speech and association defense and challenge the prosecution to prove Tornado was designed specifically to break US law. A crowbar can be used to rob a bank, but you can't charge a manufacturer for the behavior of a customer unless the product was designed or marketed as a bank robbing tool.
