I remember having this discussion back in 2017, so I took a screenshot of the Google Images results for "Gengar" at the time, where nearly all of the image results depicted him as a different color. Nobody really knows what color the damn thing's supposed to be.

The classic Ken watercolor shows he's blue
But they never really stuck with that and he's pretty much black/very dark purple in the games/anime
