This is going to sound very random, but It baffles me why there hasn't been a crossover or at least plans for pokemon to have an official crossover with Thomas the tank engine, given the history of both series. At least something in the merchandising department that was in the works. Call it batshit insane, but here's a couple of reasons why it would work and why I'm surprised it hasn't happened sooner.
>Thomas is owned by Mattel, who happens to have merchandising history with TPCi & Nintendo, even to this day.
>BOTH series are beloved across the world, especially in japan.
>japan loves thomas so much, they built an entire thomas theme park.
>the varying art styles throughout the books and tv shows would be a goldmine for creativity given that pokemon has a wide variety themselves.
>the vast amount of pokemon and engines in the thomas series would also give a vast amount of room for creativity.
>both series are no strangers to crossovers.
>pokemon has a history with trains themselves, as seen in animated media, real pokemon themed train cars and a official licensed model train by lionel, who's had a history with thomas as well.
>would appeal to all kinds of audiences and demographics, old and new.
I mean if the Mario Rabbids crossover was so crazy it worked, why not thomas?
