There was pretty much no undeveloped land in Brooklyn or Manhattan by the time Cars became affordable for the average person.
The Bronx and Queens were built with cars in mind in the 20s-30s, but didn't have much room for freeways by the 50s.
The lack of space for highways combined with the City's ability to keep niggers out of the nicer parts of town (at least for a few decades longer than a lot of other cities) meant that there was no demand for large highways or cars.

It's sad really that the post war prosperity that made burgerland a beacon of freedom to the world also fucked them into polarizing themselves so much in some things.
The usa lacks middle level housing, it has big towers at city centres and commercial areas and beautiful mc mansions at suburbs but there is 0 literally 0 new middle level real estate aka 3 to 12 levels appartment buildings, the only ones that remain seem to be 100 year old crackhouses in abandoned industrial areas.
It's probably due to cheap energy and the post war prosperity but if that shit does not change asap the us will be in trouble if energy goes higher.

When people say they dislike public transportation, its not the concept itself, its always just the absolute revulsion of being forced in a closed environment with blacks.
There are countless examples in any modern metropolis where someone, unaware of the USA nigger problem, could say "ah this is a poor design!" Problem is they're objectively wrong as they're ignoring the fundamental reality of crime and who causes it, regardless of its origin being either "socioeconomic factors" or "niggers are just dumb animals".
