>good things gen 2 introduced Held items SpA/SpD split >bad things gen 2 introduced Kanto pandering Breeding Time waste events Baby Pokemon Ruined hyper beam Shiny pokemon Pokerus Roaming Pokemon Female player character
Day time events aged really good with emulators to be honest. And I didn't even care when I was 8 years old.

even the cover art mogs every title afterwards. ive noticed only trannies hate gen 2. GEN 2 BEST GEN

Breeding is a soulless mechanic that requires you to ditch your mons in a stupid time wasting eugenics simulator so you don't end up with an "inferior" mon. Shinies are retarded since its nearly impossible to encounter them, and likely millions of productive hours have been wasted by shiny hunters which is an overall detriment to society. Pokerus is another shitty rng mechanic. Female PCs opened the franchise up to trannies. Mechanics introduced by gen 2 have been a disaster for Pokemon games, with some of them lasting decades without a fix or even never getting a fix at all. >has to cheat to get around a mechanic So you agree with me that its a shitty mechanic.
Evan Gray
>So you agree that a mechanic designed for 8 year olds was a non Issue Yeah, I agree
Luis Allen
>i was retarded as a kid so you're not allowed to criticize my games Ok

>Female PCs opened the franchise up to trannies. What's the correlation?

>I can't take different opinions without having an emotional breakdown so I will call you names Never change discord raider.
>Breeding is a soulless mechanic that requires you to ditch your mons in a stupid time wasting eugenics simulator so you don't end up with an "inferior" mon. Compared to Gen 1s ditching catched mons? Cause IVs weren't a Gen 2 thing; the game still promoted ditching mons until you got the better one, albeit secretly but that goes for breeding as well.(IVs were clearly not meant to be minmaxed in their original state.) And egg moves don't really take that much time and actually do work as a sorta interesting mechanic.
Pokerus is literally an irrelevant mechanic, oh no not RNG for a booster on another mechanic; you aren't unlocking anything from pokerus, its literally a random rare gimmick; which aren't really harmful despite what you say.
The other two are just asshurt and don't deserve replies.

>your mons in a stupid time wasting eugenics simulator so you don't end up with an "inferior" mon. That's due to IV's which are Gen 1's fault >Shinies are retarded since its nearly impossible to encounter them They add to world building, it makes sense to have rare variants of creatures. Also more things to collect makes sense for a franchise about collecting monsters >Pokerus is another shitty rng mechanic. It add to world building, Also Some RNG is good, especially since you don't need to encounter Pokerus and when you do it only gives you a slight boost rather than making the game too easy or ruining the game >Female PCs opened the franchise up to trannies. Oh and for good things you forgot >Steel Types and Dark types >A world with more than one color >Animated Sprites >Battle Facilities >Trainer Rematches
The only "bad thing" you got half-right was "Kanto Pandering" that's only because Gen2 Pokémon were robbed of the spotlight and shilling they rightfully deserved.

Silver was the most authentic experience for gen 2. you get Lugia first, it has its ability, and after the elite four before kanto you get ho-oh.
Lucas Martinez
I'm not excusing Gen 1's introduction of invisible stats, nor did I say egg moved are bad. That being said, Gen 2 introduced breeding which is problem a that has plagued Pokemon until supertraining, mints, and ability capsules began to exist. As for pokerus, it's a random rare gimmick - you're correct. Random rare gimmicks are shit. Rare creatures are already provided for in 1% encounters. 0.001% encounters add nothing to the game except give people an excuse to waste hours and hours for pixels. >Some RNG is good Sure but 0.001% faggotry is not.
>Steel Types and Dark types Steel is the most broken type in the game, and it would fall into the "bad" category of I didn't like steel mons so much. I'll admit my bias. >A world with more than one color Launching a game on a newer console is not a mechanic. >Animated Sprites Useless. >Battle Facilities Neutral, they're mostly shitty grindfests for rng and to build your team. >Trainer Rematches Neutral, it's only really useful for grinding.

>good things gen 3 introduced Double battles Abilities (half of them) Running Shoes >bad things gen 3 introduced IVs and traditional EVs Natures Abilities (half of them) Soulless remakes Mandatory legendary Pokemon encounters Available legendaries determined by factors such as the version you're playing or what starter you chose Restricted trading between mainlines games of the same generation Permanent weather Unreleased content The standard that every Pokemon wouldn't be available upon the introduction of a new generation, of which would be continued on in gen 6
Christian Price
I agree with almost everything here, go ahead and make your own thread. This one is for gen 2 discussion. Unreleased content did start with gen 2, since the gs ball was unavailable in the US.
Christopher White
>Gen 2 introduced breeding which is problem a that has plagued Pokemon until The issue with this argument is the idea that if you remove breeding, it removes the reason for it. Especially as the real reason toward this trend was a new payoff for good IVs; Hidden Power. Which is by far the much worse mechanic from gen 2.
Nah, something that barely does anything isn't really shit; its just kinda there. It clearly didn't take time to develop, its not really a shilled feature. Its just a strange random event.
Battle Facilities are RNG fests because pokemon itself is an RNG fest, its literally just a renewable endgame for pokemon. Which while the games faults make it massively inferior to actual multiplayer, it is an option and it does exactly what you think. Its a pretty good addition that unshockingly just happens to get old after awhile.
Natures are an okay mechanic thats somewhat bloated and happens to tie into some places that really didn't need more shit on top. I suppose they could be called shit just because of that, if there wasn't so many and stuff like your starter could avoid it somehow it'd be good. EVs sorta suffer the same fate of "good idea, but actually think how it'll work ingame next time". >IVs No these existed with DVs, technically it added an extra IV but this isn't gen 3 otherwise.
Mason Miller
>Gen 2 introduced breeding which is problem not quite homeslice!! Gen 2 and Stadium 2 came out as a set, and if you make use of the connecting them together then it becomes incredibly easy to farm shinies
