We will be entering Gen 9 in a few months, so I thought let's have a thread talking about all the new pokemon introduced in Gen 8. What are your favorite Gen 8 pokemon? Overall do you think this batch of pokemon are good or bad? First gen I went into blind since I guess Gen 3.
My team is probably considered basic bitch but I loved all the designs. Corviknight, Grimmsnarl, Dragapult, Centiscorch and Toxtricity.
There are plenty I'll never touch but I was surprised to find these standouts for me. PLA added two of my favourites too, with Basculegion and Ursaluna.

Eternatus, Urshifu, the new regis, Dragapult, Corviknight, and pretty much all the gigantamax.
The new pokemon are mostly bad, but that's due to the way they worked on gen 8 rather than it being a new gen, anyway.
And the regional variants are also very stale and stupid and they should stop making them.
Buying a Pokemon game that doesn't have new Pokemon is the first glimpse of the bad quality of the game and your mental retardation

I’d say it was pretty normal. Sure there are ones I really don’t like or care about, but I don’t feel it was especially high compared to past generations(although I especially hated the legendaries this time)

Had some really interesting type pairings or types that had previously been on legendaries or late game mons. That's something I tend to look for and 8 provided this quite well.

I like pretty much all of the Galarian pokemon, but what the fuck happened with the Hisuian forms? I like Lilligant (but not as much as the original) and Typhlosion but that's about it.

I know it's a very unpopular opinion here, but it's one of my favorite dex in the serie, which surprised me since i absolutly hated Gen 7's dex outside of the bugs.
I love 90% of the new Pokémons.
The main issue i have with it are the final starters evos being pretty shitty.

Indifferent. Like most Hisui mons(and has one of my favorite starter trios), hate most Galar mons(and has one of my least favorite starter trios)

i like the fossil pokemon and most of the cross evolutions. i like mr rime especially because it looks like a gen 4 pokemon and i think thats kind of cool, that and i just like mr mime

i think its pretty bad. most of them are either really ugly looking or just kind of factory-checklist-y like the starters (i personally think starter pokemon havent been that cool since gen 5) and the first few pokemon that come after them. my least favorite pokemon in this list is raboot and its actually probably my least favorite pokemon period, i really hate the way it looks

The first 1/2 of the dex are solid overall, but by the time we hit the regional forms, it starts to fall apart.

For PLA, I only like Ursaluna, Wyrdeer and Basculegion but am disappointed the latter isn't a true evo for red or blue-striped Basculin.

Honestly? I think gen 8 is the worst dex we've ever had.
All 3 starters are bad, not a single good one whereas everyother gen has at least one passable starter. The rodent is disney/pixar shit; the bird is based, the bug is based and then you have shittons of disgusting designs like stojourner/eiscue/the fossils/cufant line/carkoal line. Lots of forgettable ones too, there's only six (6) 3 family line it's so fucking shit. And then you have all the facial hair mon + all the weird pastel color palette it's so shit, god I hate galar dex. Calyrex is probably the worst legedary ever designed too (maybe enamorus now? lol)

Honestly a lot of them grew on me. Falinx, Dracovish, Sinistea/Polteageist, Calyrex, Dubwool, Runerigus, all pretty solid pokemon i've come to appreciate.

I'd say a very hit and miss generation, the ones I like are great but there's definitely a fair share of shitters that bring down the rest.
Getting smaller additions of new pokemon/forms mid-gen is neat too, I was pleasantly surprised at them adding straight up new evos and not just regionals to L;A and I wouldn't mind them doing it more often.

I honestly like the gen 8 dex alot. Only mons I don't like are the horses,starters and sneasler. Pretty strong roster overall. Much better than gen 7.
