You can get Pupitar in the game corner in pokemon crystal in goldenrod. So only houndour, murkrow, misdreavus and slugma.

You get Houndour right in between Celadon and Saffron. Just train it in those gyms.

Or more importantly trade an egg of Houndour into your new save preferably just before it hatches. Then you are the OG trainer as well.
