3 is just getting started. thats the inflection point where your kids can become effectively an assembly line to help you have more kids. each additional baby joins your "company" (family) and serves to reduce marginal cost on raising the next baby. after 3 kids you should focus your efforts on finding additional baby production facilities (mothers) because the first one will probably start complaining/resisting any additional baby production
